    Your guest spoke with a rich voice with bursts of infectious laughter. This had some 'charm' away from the deep issues of classical music discussed by two high standard proponents of this artform.

    I believe the video at 42:06 is of Rubenstein (this plus Tchaikovsky's 1st by him was my first experience of classical music - or maybe Brendel's Schubert late sonatas and klavierstucke cd). Listen carefully to Tiffany sing the melody as she interviews. Compare with the Rubenstein video. You will see she has perfect pitch and a perfect musical memory. (A bit like Glazunov famously did). She is extraordinary. Apparently music loops in her head quite often. That happens to geniuses, I am told!

  • @militaryandemergencyservic3286

    I used to know the composers Smirnov and Firsova in London (and their concert pianist daughter - who is almost as good as Tiffany). We went to a Rostropovich concert once (he conducted Tchaikovsky and Rostropovich). They had written pieces for him. I find their music too 'avant-garde'. Interesting, though. My channel has a lot of my utter rubbish 'compositions'. They are all derivative and worthless. Most of them are dedicated to Tiffany. She is a 21st century fox. But my teacher teaches at Kissin's old school. And she comes from both the Beethoven and Tchaikovsky line. I also studied philosophy (at Kings College) and when I was studying Russian at SSEES, Derrida came to SOAS and gave a lecture. He deconstructed all the time, however.

  • @militaryandemergencyservic3286

    What a fantastic interviewer Tiffany is (not only pianist). She should come down to Eastbourne. Debussy lived here at the Grand Hotel for a while - and composed 'La Mer' here. I'd love to show her around. I could play for her my poor version of Bach's c major prelude and fugue BWV 846 (not as good as her's during the excellent performance I saw in London by her recently). We could then maybe play Bach's 5th harpsichord concerto (reduced for 2 keyboards) since she also plays it. See my channel for my 2nd movement.The one in f min. We could then also play 4 handed duets (like Schubert's d940), and maybe she could teach me some Schumann (like number 15 of his op. 6). But even if I started on the Bach, I'd like to finish on Debussy. So why not I regale her with my crumby 'Clair de Lune'? Here is the hotel where he stayed (and a brief history of his stay in room 200): www.elitehotels.co.uk/brief-look-back-fascinating-musical-history-grand-hotel.

    • @boltezt
      @boltezt 3 дні тому

      It's a pity the sound quality is terrible, because the interview itself is very worth it. But I agree, the audio spikes, blow-outs and especially the wind noise make this almost unlistenable. Don't interview guests outside in the wind without proper wind protection. The camera endlessly trying and failing to find its focus is also distracting. Sorry for the negativity Tiffany, you're doing a great service to all of us by just posting this, but the production could definitely use someone who takes care of the tech stuff, so you can focus on the interview.

    Sofia - an impressive young lady; very mature, quite deep, brings out some very good points. Thank you, Tiffany! (And I am particularly impressed by Sofia's and Tiffany's command of English language, as I am familiar a little with the deep intrinsic barrier between Sinitic and Indo-European languages; the barrier I have been trying to traverse in the opposite direction.) One advice to Sofia (we old people love to give advice): (i) Listen to the voices, the whispers from your heart, (ii) Throw aside all cliches, Western and Eastern, that constrain you and go ahead boldly!

      Life can be difficult sometimes, but remembering we're all in this together can help us feel more connected to those around us with classical music. By all playing our part to lend a helping hand to those in need, we can feel more like an active part of "OUR GROUP". Giving, not only money, can be a way of expressing gratitude or instilling gratitude, whether you are on the giving or receiving end; this gratitude is essential to happiness, health and social bonds. For example, when you do express gratitude in words and actions, you boost other people's positivity as well as your own. God bless 🙏
